MCDC is the only in-patient chemical dependency treatment center administered by the State. It serves individuals 18 or older who have been diagnosed as having an addiction to drugs or alcohol or who suffer from both addiction and mental disorders. It provides detoxification and a full range of medically monitored treatments.

Medicaid Mental Health Services
Through the Medicaid program, the bureau manages the following psychiatric services for children who are seriously emotionally disturbed:
Non-Medicaid Mental Health Services
The bureau also manages non-Medicaid programs for seriously emotionally disturbed children under the Children's Mental Health Service Plan. This plan is limited to low-income youth who are within 150 percent of the federal poverty guidelines and who are not eligible for Medicaid or the Children's Health Insurance Plan (CHIP). Enrollment is limited to 130 youth a year.
This service plan provides community-based outpatient psychiatric services and psychotropic drug assistance. To apply, a parent or legal guardian should fill out a CHIP application, indicating a need for mental health care, and submit it to the CHIP program.

Provides services to families with children 0 to 3 years and to pregnant women whose children will be in the program. Designed for families whose incomes are at or below the federal poverty level. Early Head Start provides comprehensive services focusing on child development and parent-child interaction. Health services include assistance in accessing health insurance, medical and dental providers. Program also includes a Registered Dietitian on staff for nutrition services, health screenings, health & safety education and intensive prenatal services.

Neighborhood Nurse Program- Home visits and telephone consultations are conducted by a staff of community health nurses and social workers, upon request or through referral, for health and parenting information or issues. General Pediatrics
Children and adolescents admitted to Pediatrics may receive medical care; surgical recovery; care for orthopedic, cardiac and neurological illnesses; and oncology care. Inpatient children and adolescents are treated in the Pediatrics unit.
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
A team of experts provides patient care to high-risk newborns and/or very ill or premature newborns, whose needs may not be met in the general newborn nursery. High-risk newborns are either admitted from the Benefis Family Birth Center or transferred from a hospital within the region by our Neonatal Transport Team.
The majority of patients in NICU are premature babies with respiratory distress and newborns with serious problems, whether they be premature full-term. Patients' ages range from extreme prematurity at birth to four weeks.
Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
This unit is staffed by a team of experts who specialize in providing critical care for children. Patients are referred from healthcare providers and hospitals throughout Northcentral Montana. Children and adolescents may be admitted to PICU for conditions including:
Pediatric Surgery
Specially trained pediatric surgeons provide a team approach, working with highly skilled anesthesiologists, orthopedic surgeons, neurosurgeons, operating room nurses, pediatric critical-care specialists, neonatologists and other specialists. The team also cares for children admitted through Benefis Healthcare's Emergency Center and Level II Trauma. Both inpatient and outpatient surgical services offer state-of-the-art technology and facilities, including surgical instruments and equipment specially designed for pediatric patients.
Emergency Center and Trauma
Regional provider of trauma care for critically injured children and has been verified by the American College of Surgeons as a Level II Trauma Center.
