Children's Special Health Services (CSHS) is located in the Family and Community Health Bureau of the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services. The program, originally know as the "Crippled Children's" Program, is charged by the Federal Maternal Child Health Bureau to: "Support development and implementation of comprehensive, culturally competent, coordinated systems of care for children and youth who have or are at risk for chronic physical, developmental, behavioral or emotional conditions and who also require health and related services of a type or amount beyond that required by children generally."

Arthritis Evaluation and Outreach Services

Children with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis (JRA) and arthritis-related conditions are seen at this clinic. Arthritis refers to inflammation (swelling, redness, loss of motion and pain) involving the joints.  More than 100 different conditions affect the joints and tissues of the body including the skin and internal organs.  Often children will have limping, pain and /or swelling of joints with arthritis and may need further evaluation.

Cleft/Craniofacial Clinic

A multi disciplinary team provides evaluation and treatment recommendations to families of children with cleft lip/palate, velopharyngeal insufficiency with an anatomical basis and children with Apert's syndrome, Crouzon's disease, mandibulofacial dysostosis, hemifacial microsomia and other syndromes affecting facial growth. Comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic review is provided by the specialty members of this clinic team. The team discussions review available treatment options, and a consensus of recommendations is offered to the family. This is a Children's Special Health Services sponsored clinic.
