In ongoing efforts to support State and Local Maternal and Child Health Programs, the Association of SIDS and Infant Mortality Programs (ASIP) and the Association of Maternal and Child Health Programs (AMCHP) are pleased to co-sponsor a series of quarterly webinars to strengthen SUID, SIDS, Infant Safe Sleep and bereavement services across the U.S.

This is a time of change in our understanding of SUID and SIDS. Professionals are challenged by the diagnostic shift and continuing disparity in black and white infant death rates. The controversy about infant sleep environments and health education messages confounds the issue.

These live, interactive webinars will provide participants with consistent, current information, data, resources and tools regarding SUID, SIDS, Infant Safe Sleep, and bereavement. You will hear about the latest research, new national initiatives, promising practices, and current policy and legislative activities.

National Lekotek Center (NLC) is excited to offer training options previously reserved solely for Lekotek professionals (Family Play Specialists/Lekotek Leaders). We have now extending our training to give you as a parent, professional in early childhood field or person interested in play, an opportunity to attend and experience it. With over 30 years of experience, NLC is a leader in trainings on play for children with special needs; training over 1000 people.

Training Institutes 2010: GUCCHD - Washington D.C. - July 14-18, 2010

The National Technical Assistance Center for Children's Mental Health at the Georgetown University Center for Child and Human Development is offering Training Institutes on local systems of care for children, adolescents, and young adults with or at risk for mental health challenges and their families. The biennial Training Institutes are organized in partnership with the Child, Adolescent and Family Branch of the federal Center for Mental Health Services and The Annie E. Casey Foundation.

Advocates in Disability Award - Application Deadline Mar. 4, 2010

The HSC Foundation is currently accepting applications for its 2010 Advocates in Disability Award, which recognizes a young person between the ages of 14 and 26 in the Washington, DC Metropolitan area who is dedicated to empowering people with disabilities. 

Applicants will be evaluated on their current and previous work that impacts people with disabilities, as well as their ideas for a new or extended project that would benefit individuals with disabilities.  The winner will receive $10,000, and will use $7,000 of the winnings to implement the project that was outlined in his or her application.
