This presentation will highlight best-practice suggestions for developing IEPs and teaching and measuring the performance of students with autism in the areas of: communication, behavior, academics, vocational skills, daily living skills, socialization (including intimacy), and leisure skills (including digital literacy.) Please be aware that this presentation is not about students with Asperger's Syndrome.

Does your district or school receive school mental health services from a Comprehensive School and Community Treatment (CSCT) program or is your district involved with the local Kids Management Authority (KMA) team?
This collaborative training/planning session will be facilitated by the nationally recognized leader in the field, Mark Weist, Director for School Mental Health. The OPI is partnering with DPHHS to bring together a parent representative, CSCT program administrators, key superintendents, and principals from across the state.
Where: February 9-10, 2010 at the Great Northern Hotel and Conference Center, Helena, MT.

Both general education and special education teachers recognize the benefits of Differentiated Instruction but sometimes struggle with determining how to utilize the data in selecting the most appropriate and effective intervention or accommodation while maintaining core instruction and classroom management.
This webinar series will provide practical strategies for the implementation of Differentiated Instruction. The webinars can be attended individually or the whole series. The webinars will be posted on the OPI website after the live webinar.
The webinars are free and no registration is required. The webinars will start at 3:30 p.m. and last about an hour each. One renewal unit will be offered for each live webinar.

This course will focus on the use of Moodle for providing a blended learning environment for the k-12 classroom. This Advanced course will focus on embedding web 2.0 tools, using the grading tools and considering the possibilities for parents and community members participation. Following the 3 hours face to face session there will be 4 weeks of instruction using Elluminate in a synchronous on-line learning environment and Moodle in an asynchronous learning environment. The course will be finalized with a 3 hours face to face session to provide direction for final projects. Best practices will be shared and discussed as possible models for meeting the diverse needs of the digital learner.
