Topics will cover a broad spectrum of technology as it is being applied to all disabilities and age groups in education, rehabilitation, vocation, and independent living. People with disabilities, special educators, rehabilitation professionals, administrators, service/care providers, personnel managers, government officials, and hardware/software developers will share their experiences and insights at what has become known as the most significant networking experience of the year -- the annual Closing The Gap Conference.
The complete event includes two days (October 14-15, 2008) of day-long preconference workshops followed by three days (October 16-18, 2008) of over 200 one- and two-hour presentations, along with many commercial exhibitors.

Asperger's Syndrome: Continuing Education Seminar for Professionals: October 29, 2008, Sioux Falls, SD

The purpose of this seminar is to provide participants with information about strategies and interventions which are helpful in the treatment of children and adults with Asperger's Syndrome. Three classification systems will be used to describe the features of Asperger's Syndrome, a frequently misdiagnosed condition. A variety of diagnostic tools will be discussed to aid in the assessment process with respect to social interaction, communication, and emotional regulation and how AS differs from ADHD, high-functioning autism (HFA), nonverbal learning disorder (NLD), gifted/LD, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and bipolar disorder.
