SKILL BOOK 1 begins on a zero level so that it can be used by a person who cannot read any letters or words. Each of the first five lessons contains a picture-association chart to teach the key words and sounds, a story using the key words, a writing lesson and a homework page. Charts in Lessons 6-11 present key words (without pictures), letters and numbers. Review is provided by checkup pages and listen and write exercises. The lessons have been arranged so that the student will gain a feeling of confidence and self-help from the beginning.
